My Story
and Reach for Professionalism
Hi my name is Joshua Spann I was born in Hattiesburg. I go by the name of Nova2Serious when I produce art. This unique art career started as everyone else's did in school during classes, and as an escape from an unforgiving reality.
As a 6-year-old in the 2nd grade at stone mountain Elementary school in Stone Mountain, GA 30083. I would say my focus grew after I witnessed Pappy Drewett at school, I believe that's his real name. I drew a sketch along with one of his learning videos and the class. It got picked for display in the hall. I grew up moving around allot wasn't in the best environment mentally. Even then I overcame being left out, or picked on consistently, and found my own thing.
I got my GED at the age of 16 in Hattiesburg MS. At the time I lived with my grandparents because of conflicts in school. After finishing I attempted to go to college at MGCCC for appreciation of arts, back home in Biloxi with my dad, mom, sister, and brother. There was no room for me in the course I pursued, as I was told. My living and financial situation didn't leave space for me to be patient and facilitate my dreams at a manageable pace. It was recommended that I try another major considering I had already been approved for a grant. Went to school for Theater and Arts major "hoping to change back to my desired major". Sadly, I couldn't agree with the teachings there, I felt out of place and dropped out 1st semester.
7years later after learning about the common workplaces and how they foster chaos and "equity". I decided to go for cosmetology, seeing that it is the next vest thing for most artist. I finished school and worked at Fantastic Sam's in Biloxi on pass road (before Rouses was there) for a month until I was fired. Even after being told there is no "standard" to how art is portrayed. Apparently it was my lack of equipment and quality of tools that got me voted out of a job.
These days I aspire to be a socially present father with the ability to love my family economically. Righting wrongs that I may have caused, adding in the ones I didn't. Sticking with the grind and continually growing after I completely battle and rid my life of drug abuse, homelessness, and erosion to my Legacy through complicit and misguided efforts. At times it was hard to understand reality and why the good I've brought to the table was unseen. or misused. Took a while but now that I'm 33 I see a difference or a pattern I can make in my career, wellness, and socially for my economic benefit along with other upcoming artists my kids and family included.
Ladies and Gentleman, I Joshua N Spann present to you a tribute to the pain I've conquered in my youth, Venue SSC!
